The title track is an experiment i rhythm. It combines the Euro-American chamber music tradition with the rhythmic structure often called "clave." Every rhythm in the piece, including those that appear to be unmetered (they are always strictly in time), is based on the clave structure.

The short piano quintet "Quarrelsation" is also about rhythm but, unlike the previous track, it is not based on clave. The rhythms here are sometimes in time, sometimes rubato. This piece also happens to be the first piece of 'classical' music that I ever wrote.

"Alternate Tonality" is not about rhythm but and experiment with the augmented scale,not to be confused with the whole tone scale. Because the augmented scale is symmetrical, tension and release must be created using tools other than the hierarchical harmonies found in tonal music, or even the more democratic harmonic structures of atonal music.
